Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) is an undegraduate 3 year degree program comprising subjects like database, networking, data structure, core programming languages like “C”and “Java” This course provides opportunities to the students who are interested in computer field and wants to work in the IT sector as programmer or software developer.

  • ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION Students who have passed Pre-University Examination (10+2) or equivalent examination in any discipline are eligible to apply.

PO 1: Strong Computing Foundations

Acquire in-depth knowledge of core computing concepts such as algorithms, data structures, and computer architecture, ensuring a robust understanding of computational processes.

Master programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, and web development tools to design, develop, and implement software applications effectively.

Develop critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to analyze complex computing challenges and devise efficient, innovative solutions.

Understand the principles of software engineering and database management systems (DBMS), enabling students to design, test, and manage large-scale applications and system.

 Gain knowledge in emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data analytics, cloud computing, and cyber security, ensuring adaptability to the evolving technology landscape.

Emphasize the importance of ethical practices in computing, promoting professional responsibility, security, and integrity in the development and use of IT systems.

Develop effective communication skills for teamwork and collaborative projects, with the ability to present ideas and solutions clearly to stakeholders.

PROGRAM SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES (PSO)

PEO 1: Proficiency in Software Development and Programming

Develop strong skills in programming languages like Java, C++, Python, and web technologies, enabling students to design, develop, and implement software applications.

Gain knowledge in database management systems, networking, and cloud computing, preparing students for roles in data administration and network management.

Be prepared to work with emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics, and cyber security, staying competitive in the IT industry.

 Apply computational techniques to solve real-world challenges in software development, system analysis, and information technology services.

Develop leadership qualities to manage technology-driven projects, coordinate teams, and deliver IT solutions efficiently in a corporate setting.

ATTENDANCE

  • Each semester shall be taken as a unit for the purpose of calculating attendance and a student shall be considered to have put in the required attendance for that semester if the candidate has attended not less than 75% of the number of working days (lectures during each semester)

MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION:

  • The medium of instruction shall be English. However, students are allowed to write the examination in Kannada.

BREAK-UP OF MARKS FOR THEORY AND PRACTICAL COURSES/PAPERS:

  • 70 marks in each subject and the internal assessment will be for 30 marks.
  • Minimum for a pass in each paper shall be 35%, and for all the papers in the semester average shall be 40%. However, a candidate
    has to score minimum of 40% of theory component of semester end examination i.e. 25(rounded off) marks out of 70 marks.
  • There shall be no minimum marks for Internal Assessment.

  • Eligible for the post of Officer at Central Government, State Government, Public Sector Under, autonomous bodies
